Why THE SMALL BUSINESS OF IT?
Because my brother Jon has been starting and advising and growing small businesses for over 20 years [Learn more about his work here] while I’ve been making things of various shapes and sizes-which is a small business of its own-and Jon and I love being together and talking about all that we’re seeing and learning because there’s this endlessly compelling overlap between what we each love to do and we’d love to bring you in on it.
Why else THE SMALL BUSINESS OF IT?
Because there can be a loneliness to doing your own thing and trying something new and innovating and keeping at it year after year and sometimes being in a room full of people who are making their way in a similiar way can be exactly what you need as you see that what you’re facing is entirely normal and sharing the wisdom we’ve picked up along the way with each other is a fantastic way to spend a Monday and Tuesday in January. By the ocean. With tacos.
Why else THE SMALL BUSINESS OF IT?
Because there are endless ways to do your work and set up your thing and manage it and build it while staying true to yourself so what we’re all actually looking for is the wisdom on how to hold it all together with peace and joy as we keep figuring it out and making adjustments and and trying new things.

Because the details and distractions and forms and the sheer administrivia of it all can easily drive you mental and so any new shift in perception or how you approach it or understand it can make it all a thousand times more doable and maybe even enjoyable.

Yes. If you’d like to surf with us or take a lesson-we’ll all be in the water together-we’ll do that on Tuesday during lunch. Closer to the date we’ll send you an email with all the info.
